HomeMy WebLinkAbout11115 ORD - 10/04/1972JRR:Jkh:10 -4 -72; 1st AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH ART MUSEUM OF SOUTH TEXAS FOR EXPENDITURES IN CONNECTION WITH ADVERTISING FOR OPENING OF THE ART MUSEUM, ALL AS MORE FULLY SET FORTH IN THE CON- TRACT, A COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO, MARKED EXHIBIT "A ", AND MADE A PART HEREOF; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to enter into a contract with Art Museum of South Texas for expenditures covering advertising for opening of the Art Museum, all as more fully set forth in the contract, a copy of which is attached hereto, marked Exhibit "A ", and made a part hereof. SECTION 2. The necessity to immediately enter into the afore- said contract creates a public emergency and an imperative public neces- sity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the +day of October, 1972. ATTEST: / 4 I City Secrdtairy / MAYOR THE CITY OF CO U CHRISTI, TEXAS APP DRAY© OF OCTOBER, 1972: AV' City Attorney SR ill X15 • I THE STATE OF TEXAS X COUNTY OF NUECES X WHEREAS, opening of the Art Museum of South Texas will be October 6, 1972, hereinafter called the "Art Museum "; and WHEREAS, the Art Museum is undertaking a publicity campaign which will focus the attention of national newspapers, national news magazines, art magazines, and art critics on the opening of the Art Museum; and WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi, hereinafter called the "City ", will benefit from the national exposure gained by the aforementioned publicity campaign: NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual covenants contained herein, the following is agreed to between the parties hereto: A. City agrees: To reimburse the Art Museum for certain expenses incurred in the operation of the aforementioned publicity campaign in an amount not to exceed $5,000.00 from the Tourist and Convention Development Fund, Fund 103. These certain expenses include, by way of limitation, photographic expenses incurred in the taking and production of photographs of the Art Museum for release to national newspapers, national news magazines, art magazines, and other news media; expenses incurred in the production of press packets; telephone, wire, and printing expenses incurred in connection with the opening of the Art Museum; expenses incurred in the hiring of a communications consultant; and expenses incurred in connection with the holding of press receptions. B. Art Museum agrees: To record the expenditures which are incurred during the aforementioned campaign and which are eligible for reimbursement under the terms of this contract in a separate account and after the opening of the Art Museum, submit a request for reimbursement supported by a summary of expenditures.
