HomeMy WebLinkAbout11124 ORD - 10/11/1972•JRR.vmp • 10/9/72:1et AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH HELDENFELS BROTHERS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF KOSTORYZ ROAD STORM SEWER IMPROVEMENTS, H.Q.D. PROJECT NO. WSF- TX -06 -59 -10261 APPROPRIATING OUT OF THE NO. 296 STORM SEWER BOND FUND $255,000, OF WHICH $240,907.75 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $14,092.25 IS FOR CONTINGENCIES AND INCIDENTAL EX- PENSES, ALL APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 296 -70 -31 AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to execute a contract with Heldenfels Brothers for the construction of Kostoryz Road Storm Sewer Improvements, HUD Project No. WSF- TX -06 -59 -1026, all as is more fully described in the plans and specifications and contrt docu- ments on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Heldenfels Brothers, opened on the 4th day of October, 1972, the said bid of Heldenfels Brothers being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated the sum of $255,000 out of No. 296 Storm Sewer Bond Fund, of which $240,907.75 is for the construction contract and $14,092.25 is for contingencies and incidental expenses, all applicable to Project No. 296 -70 -3. SECTION 3. The necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set out at the earliest possible date so that construction may commence, creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this theli day of October, 1972.
