HomeMy WebLinkAbout11168 ORD - 11/08/1972• JRR:jkh:11-8 -72; lst` • AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN ACCEPTANCE AGREEMENT WITH THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE COUNCIL, STATE OF TEXAS, FOR GRANT NO. 2- I3- X1267, IMPROVEMENT OF COM- MUNITY RELATIONS THROUGH CIVIC AND RECREATION PROGRAMS IN THE AMOUNT OF $19,857; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute an Acceptance Agreement with the Criminal Justice Council, State of Texas, for Grant No. 2 -I3 -1267, Improvement of Community Relations Through Civic and Recreation Programs in the amount of $19,857, as more fully set forth in the agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, marked Exhibit "A ". SECTION 2. The necessity to immediately.authorize the City Manager to execute the aforesaid agreement creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the day of November, 1972. K: AY OF N E , 1972: -59Y Attorney r� u C7 AGREEMENT THE STATE OF TEXAS X COUNTY OF NUECES X THAT WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi, a municipal corporation and body politic, operating under the home rule statutes of the State of Texas, hereinafter referred to as Grantee, has heretofore submitted a grant application containing standard grant conditions to the Criminal Justice Council, State of Texas, entitled Improvement of Community Relations Through Civic and Recreation Programs, and further identified by Grant Number 2 -I3 -1267; and WHEREAS, the Governor of the State of Texas has approved the grant application as evidenced by the Statement of Grant Award from the Criminal Justice Council dated October 24, 1972, which contains certain special requirements in addition to the standard grant conditions, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit "Au and incorporated herein by reference the same as if written herein; and {HERRAS9 the Grantee desires to accept the grant award which embraces the standard grant conditions and special requirements as evidenced by the Statement of Grant Award: NOW, THEREFORE, Grantee in consideration of the making of this grant accepts the aforementioned Statement of Grant Award, the standard grant conditions, and special requirements and further shall timely comply with all standard grant conditions and special requirements in the grant application and Statement of Grant Award as evidenced by this agreement executed by the official authorized to sign the original grant application as presiding officer of and on behalf of the governing body of this grantee.
