HomeMy WebLinkAbout11193 ORD - 12/06/1972•JRR;HG:jkh:12 -5 -72; lat • AN ORDINANCE DELINEATING CITY VOTING PRECINCTS, SHOWING CORRES- PONDING COUNTY PRECINCT NUMBERS, DESIGNATING POLLING PLACE LOCATIONS, DESIGNATING ELECTION JUDGES AND ALTERNATES AT THE DECEMBER 9, 1972 BOND AND ANNEXATION ELECTION AS ORDERED BY ORDINANCE NOS. 11171 AND 11179, RESPECTIVELY; SPECIFICALLY SAVING SAID ORDINANCE NOS. 11171 AND 11179 FROM REPEAL EXCEPT INSOFAR AS THEY CONFLICT WITH THIS ORDINANCE; PROVIDING FOR HOLDING SAID ELECTION IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE LAW; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, after due notice, a public hearing was held on November 8, 1972, to determine the desirability of annexing certain territory adjacent to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, and based upon such hearing, the City Council determined to call an election for annexing said territory by Ordinance No. 11179, passed after due notice; and WHEREAS, after due notice, a public hearing was held on November 8, 1972, to determine the desirability of issulag certain City bonds and based upon such hearing the City Council by )rdinance No. 11171 ordered an election on the question of the issuance of said bonds, after due notiml: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY TEE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the aforementioned Ordinance Nos. 11171 and 11179 are specifically saved from repeal except insofar as they may conflict with this ordinance. SECTION 3. That said election shall be held in accordance with the general election laws of the State of Texas. SECTION 4. That a copy of this ordinance, signed by the Mayor of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, shall constitute notice of City voting precincts, polling place locations and designation of election judges and alternates at said election, and the Mayor is directed to cause a copy of this ordinance, signed by him, to be posted at the City Hall in the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, and to have a copy of this ordinance published in the Corpus Christi Times, the official newspaper of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, it being a newspaper of general circulation, published within the City of Corpus Christi, said publication tt be made prior to the date of the holding of said election. SECTION 5. The necessity to deliu: ste City voting precincts, to designate palling place locations, and to designate election judges and alternates at the aforementioned election creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 6th day of December , 1972.
