HomeMy WebLinkAbout11197 RES - 12/06/1972A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MAKE APPLICATION FOR A FERAL GRANT UNDER THE HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOP- MENT ACT OF 1965, PUBLIC L1w 89 -117 AS AMENDED, AND TO SIGN THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO COM- PLETE THE CONSTRUCTION OF CERTAIN STORM SEWER MAINS AND COLLECTOR FACILITIES INCLUDING AUSTIN SCHOOL AREA AND 18th STREET AREA STORM SEWER IMPROVEM ZS IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, NUECES,COUNTY, TEXAS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, it is contemplated that the city of Corpus Christi, Texas will condtruct certain storm sewer mains and collector facilities, with an estimated total cost of $315,000; and WHEREAS, it is found that the City of Corpus Christi is unable to provide the total cost of such improvements; and WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary and proper to apply for Federal Grant under the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1965, Public Law 89 -117 as amended, in order to have sufficient funds to complete these much needed improvements; NOW, THKMTORI, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, =23: SECTION 1. That R. Margin Townsend, City Manager of the City of Corpus Christi, be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to make appli- cation and sign the necessary documents required to complete submission of the application on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi, for a Federal Grant under Public Law 89 -117 as amended, to be applied to the cost of the construction of said sewer facilities. SECTION 2. THE City of Corpus Christi hereby agrees that if a Federal Grant for the project is made pursuant to the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1965, the City will pay the remaining costs of the approved project. SECTION 3.
