HomeMy WebLinkAbout11286 ORD - 01/31/1973JRR/Mc 12/11/7,' 1ST AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER I OF THE BUILDING CODE, ADOPTED BY ORDINANCE NO. 10379, AS AMENDED, SO AS TO REQUIRE A BUILDING PERMIT PRIOR TO INSTALLATION OF A MOBILE HOME FOR OCCUPANCY UPON A LOT AND ESTABLISHING A PERMIT FEE OF $5; MAKING VIOLATIONS A MISDEMEANOR PUNISHABLE BY FINE NOT EXCEEDING $200; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. THAT PARAGRAPH (A)'OF SUBSECTION-105.1 OF CHAPTER I OF • THE BUILDING CODE, ADOPTED BY ORDINANCE NO. 10379, AS AMENDED, BE AND THE SAME I IS HEREBY AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS: ' "(A) ANY OWNER, AUTHORIZED AGENT, OR CONTRACTOR WHO DESIRES TO CONSTRUCT, ENLARGE, ALTER, REPAIR, MOVE, DEMOLISH, OR CHANGE THE OCCUPANCY OF A BUILDING OR STRUCTURE, OR TO ERECT OR CONSTRUCT A SIGN OF ANY DESCRIPTION, OR TO INSTALL OR ALTER FIRE EXTINGUISHING APPARATUS, ELEVATORS, ENGINES, rR TO INSTALL A STEAM BOILER, FURNACE, HEATER, INCINERATOR OR OTHER HEAT PRODUC NG APPARATUS, OR OTHER APPURTENANCES, THE INSTALLATION OF WHICH IS REGULATED BY THIS CODE OR TO INSTALL A MOBILE HOME FOR OCCUPANCY UPON A LOT, OR TO CAUSE ANY SUCH WORK TO BE DONE, SHALL FIRST MAKE APPLICATION TO THE BUILDING OFFICIAL AND OBTAIN THE REQUIRED PERMIT THEREFORE." SECTION 2. THAT PARAGRAPH (A) OF SUBSECTION 106.1 OF SAID CHAPTER I BE AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS: U(A) NO PERSON, FIRM OR CORPORATION SHALL ERECT, CONSTRUCT, ENLARGE, ai ALTER, REPAIR, MOVE, IMPROVE, REMOVE, CONVERT, OR DEMOLISH ANY BUILDING OR STRUCTURE IN THE APPLICABLE JURISDICTION, OR INSTALL A MOBILE HOME FOR OCCUPANCY UPON A LOT, OR CAUSE THE SAME TO BE DONE, WITHOUT FIRST OBTAINING A SEPARATE BUILDING PERMIT FOR SUCH .BUILDINGS OR STRUCTURES OR MOBILE HOMES FROM THE BUILDING OFFICIAL." SECTION 3. THAT A NEW SUBSECTION 107.8 BE ADDED TO SECTION 107 — FEES OF SAID CHAPTER I, TO READ AS FOLLOWS: "SUBSECTION 107.8 — MOBILE HOME INSTALLATION FEE. THE FEE FOR A BUILDING PERMIT FOR THE INSTALLATION OF A MOBILE HOME FOR OCCUPANCY UPON A LOT SHALL BE $5. DO. �1 11286 • JRR /MC 12/11/72 1sT • SECTION 4. ANY PERSON, FIRM OR CORPORATION VIOLATING THE TERMS AND PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR, AND UPON CON- VICTION SHALL BE FINED IN A SUM NOT TO EXCEED $200. SECTION 5. PUBLICATION SHALL BE MADE IN THE OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, ONE TIME, WHICH PUBLICATION SHALL CONTAIN THE CAPTION "STATING IN SUBSTANCE THE PURPOSE OF THE ORDINANCE IN RECITING THE PENALTY FOR VIOLATION OF THE ORDINANCE." SECTION 6. IF FOR ANY REASON ANY SECTION, PARAGRAPHS SUBDIVISION, CLAUSE, PHRASE, OR PROVISION OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE HELD INVALID, IT SHALL NOT AFFECT ANY VALID PROVISIONS OF THIS OR ANY OTHER ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI TO WHICH THESE RULES AND REGULATIONS RELATE.
