HomeMy WebLinkAbout11321 ORD - 02/21/1973JRR:jkh;2- 21 -73; lot • AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH ACORN, INC., AND A CONTRACT WITH CURRIE'S SEED COMPANY FOR TREE PLANTING IN VARIOUS PARKS IN THE CITY, BEING PROJECT NO. 291- 64 -20; APPROPRIATING OUT OF NO. 291 PARK BOND FUND $27,098.80 FOR THE AFORESAID CONTRACTS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute contracts with Acorn, Inc., and with Currie's Seed Company for tree planting in various parks in the City, being Project No. 291- 64 -20, all as is more fully described in the plans and specifica- tions and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bids of Acorn, Inc., and Currie's Seed Company, opened on the 5th day of December, 1972, the said bids being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated out of the No. 291 Park Bond Fund the sum of $27,098.80 for tree planting in various parks in the City of Corpus Christi, of which amount $16,890 is for trees to be planted by Acorn, Inc., and the amount of $10,208.80 is for trees to be planted by Currie's Seed Company, applicable to Project No. 291- 64 -20. SECTION 3. The necessity to execute the aforesaid contracts and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set out at the earliest possible date so that the project may proceed without delay creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule and that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordi- nance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect J -1321 and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the_2 -�it day of February, 1973.
