A RESOLUTION
EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR CHANGES IN STATE LAW TO RESTRICT
PUBLIC DISPLAY AND SALE OF OBSCENE AND /OR PORNOGRAPHIC
MATERIAL IN ACCORD WITH THE STATE AND UNITED STATES LAWS
AND CONSTITUTION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
< SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas, expresses support for changes in State law so as to restrict the public
display and sale of obscene and /or pornographic material provided such change r
is in accord with the Constitution and laws of the State of Texas and the *:
United States of America and as interpreted by the courts of this State and of
the United States.
SECTION 2. The necessity to protect the citizens of this City from
the harmful influences and obscenity and pornography creates a public emergency
and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule
that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its
introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meet-
ings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and
necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that
this Resolution be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect
and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY
SO RESOLVED, this the 2 /,;t- day of March, 1973.

ORDINANCE, A PUBLIC EMERGENCY AND IMPERATIVE NECESSITY EXIST FOR THE SUSPEN-
SION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
DE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE THEREO
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; 11 FORE,
