HomeMy WebLinkAbout11391 ORD - 03/21/1973JRR:MLM:jkh:3- 21 -73; 1st v • AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE N0. 9886, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON AUGUST 12, 1970, CLOSING THE HEARING ON STREET IMPROVEMENTS FOR OCEAN DRIVE, FROM APPROXIMATELY 120 FEET EAST OF THE EASTERLY RIGHT OF WAY LINE OF ALAMEDA STREET TO THE NORTH GATE OF THE . NAVAL AIR CANCELLING STAND IDELETING ITEMS 3F AND R4, FOR PAVING BY ASSESSMENTS AGAINST THE UNIVERSITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI; AUTHORIZING RELEASE OF SPECIAL ASSESSMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $20,244.24 PLUS ANY INTEREST DUE AND OWING THE CITY FOR SAID ASSESSMENT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 9886, passed and approved by the City Council on August 12, 1970, closing the hearing on street improvements for Ocean Drive, from approximately 120 feet East of the easterly right of way line of Alameda Street to the North Gate of the Naval Air Station, in the City of Corpus Christi, be amended by cancelling and deleting Items 3 and 4, for paving assessments against the University of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. That Release of Special Assessment is hereby authorized releasing the said University of Corpus Christi from the assessment for improvements to Ocean Drive, in the amount of $20,244.24, plus any interest due and owing the City of Corpus Christi for said assessment. SECTION 3. The necessity to immediately cancel the sums hereinabove set forth in order to complete the transaction of transferring the properties of the University of Corpus Christi to the City of Corpus Christi so as to-provide additional education resources for the citizens of Corpus Christi creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested that said Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction 11391 and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the, i� day of March, 1973.
