HomeMy WebLinkAbout11405 ORD - 03/28/1973JRR:jkh :3- 28 -73; 1st AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE PROVISIONS OF TEXAS HIGHWAY.COM;ISSION MINUTE ORDER NO. 67122, P,4$ED ON FEBRUARY 28, 1973 AS RELATE TO THE SPEED ZME ON PADRE ISLAND DRIVE EXPRESSWAY LANES, FROM A POINT 2000 FEET SOUTHEAST OF AIRTJNE ROAD TO A POINT 3,650 FEET NORTHWEST OF AYERS STREET, ILID ESTABLISHING SPEED ZONES OF 65 MILES PER HOUR MAXIMUM AND 50 MILES PER HOUR MINIMUM ON THE AFORESAID PORTION OF PADRE ISLAND DRIVE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, in Nueces County, as well as various counties in the State of Texas, the Texas Highway Department conducted engineering and traffic investigations to determine the reasonable and safe prima facie maximum speeds on sections of various roads and highways in the State of Texas; and IMEREAS, investigations reveal that a safe and prudent maximum speed for that section of State Highway 358 (Padre Island Drive), from Station 313 +50, Control 617 -1, in Corpus Christi, northwesterly within the corporate limits of the City of Corpus Christi to Station 610+00, Control 617 -1, a distance of 5.616 miles, more or less, would be 65 miles per hour; and WITT:REAS, the City of Corpus Christi concurs in the findings of the Texas Highway Department and desires to go on record as supporting the findings of the said Highway Department: NOW, THErEFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi adopts the provisions Of Minute Order No. 67122, passed by the Texas Highway Commission on February 28, 19732 as relate to State Highway 358 (Padre Island Drive), frOM Staticn 313 +50, northwesterly within the corporate limits of the City of Corpus Christi to Station 610+00, being that portion of Padre Island Drive from a point 2,000 feet southeast of Airline Road to a point 3,650 feet northwest of Ayers Street, establishing a maximum speed of 65 miles per hour and a minimum speed of 50 miles per hour. 11405 SECTION 2. Publication shall be made one time in the official Publication of the City of Corpus Christi, by publishing the caption of this ordinance, stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance. SECTION 3.
