HomeMy WebLinkAbout11417 ORD - 04/04/1973' • JRR:vp:4 /2/73 ast • TEXAS: AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH MAVERICK CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF MINOR STORM DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS; APPROPRIATING OUT OF NO. 295 STORM SEWER BOND FUND $91,000, OF WHICH $85,801.66 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $5,198.34 IS FOR CONTINGENCIES AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES, ALL APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 295- 70 -72, NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT AREAS AND MINOR STORM SEWER IMPROVEMENTS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to execute a contract with Maverick Construction Company for the construction of minor storm drainage improvements, Project No. 295- 70 -72, neighborhood improvement areas. and minor storm sewer improvements, all as is more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Maverick Construction Company, opened on the 28th day of March, 1973, the said bid of Maverick Construction Com- pany being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated the sum of $91,000 out of the No. 295 Storm Sewer Bond Fund, of which $85,801.66 is for the con- struction contract and $5,198.34 is for contingencies and incidental expenses, all applicable to Project No. 295- 70 -72. SECTION 3. The necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set out at the earliest possible date so that construction may commence, creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordi- nance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and neces- sity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 6L_LL day of April, 1973.
