' AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 10831, PASSED AND APPROVED
ON APRIL 26, 1972, AND THE CONTRACT AUTHORIZED
THEREIN, SO AS TO ALLOW GTE SYLVANIA TO EXTEND ITS
CONTRACT TO MAY 1, 1973, AS MORE FULLY SET FORTH
IN THE CONTRACT AMENDMENT, A COPY OF WHICH IS
ATTACHED HERETO, MARKED EXHIBIT "A ", AND MADE A
PART HEREOF; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTII,
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 10831, passed and approved on
April 26, 1972, and the contract authorized therein, be amended so as to
allow GTE Sylvania to extend its contract to May 1, 1973, a copy of which
is attached hereto, marked Exhibit "A ", and made a part hereof.
SECTION 2. Except as herein and hereby amended, Ordinance No. 10831
and the contract authorized thereby shall be and remain in full force and
effect.
SECTION 3. The necessity to immediately amend the GTE Sylvania
contract as hereinabove set forth creates a public emergency and an impera-
tive public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its intro-
duction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three
several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such
emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of
the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its
introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after
its passage and publication, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the
day of April, 1973.

Contract Amendment
This contract, it is expressly agreed, is supple-
mented to the Contract by and between the City of Corpus
Christi, Purchaser, and GTE Sylvania Incorporated, Con-
tractor, and said Contract is by reference made a part
hereof, and all the terms, conditions, and provisions
thereof (unless specifically modified herein), are to apply
-hereto and are made a part hereof the same as though they
were expressly rewritten, incorporated and included herein.
Purchaser and Contractor agree as follows:
1• That circumstances have changed since the execution
of the aforementioned contract between Purchaser and Con-
t . ractor such that it now becomes mutually beneficial to
amend the original period of contract performance.
2• Accordingly, it is hereby expressly agreed that
Section IV (Page #4) of the above contract be amended as
follows:
"Contractor hereby agrees to commence work
on said Communications System within sixty
calendar days from the date of the execution
of this agreement and to complete the same on
or before l May 1973."

3. Contractor agrees, upon receipt of a fully executed
COPY of this Contract Amendment from Purchaser, to extend
the period of the Performance and Payment Board furnished
by Contractor pursuant to Section IV, (Page #6), consistent
with the agreements set forth herein. Evidence of such
extension.to be provided by Contractor to Purchaser, within
fifteen (15) days after receipt of an executed copy of
Contract Amendment.

SION OF THE CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT THAT NO ORDINANCE OR RESOLUTION SHALL
BE PASSED FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, AND THAT SUCH ORDINANCE OR
RESOLUTION SHALL BE READ AT THREE MEETINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL; 1, THEREFORE,
REQUEST THAT YOU SUSPEND SAID CHARTER RULE OR REQUIREMENT AND PASS THIS ORDI-
NANCE FINALLY ON THE DATE IT IS INTRODUCED, OR AT THE PRESENT MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL.
