HomeMy WebLinkAbout11504 RES - 05/30/19737 JRR:jkh:5- 29 -73; lat A RESOLUTION CHANGING THE NAME OF "LENA PARK", LOCATED AT THE INTERSECTION OF HOUMS AND McARDLE STREETS TO "LIONS PARK "; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the Park and Recreation Board met in regular session on January 16, 1973; and WHEREAS, the Board voted to accept the recommendation that the park located at Holmes and McArdle Streets, in the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, be renamed from LENA PARK to LIONS PARK; and WHEREAS, the Board voted to forward this recommendation to the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi for its consideration: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED-BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the,park located at Holmes and McArdle Streets be and the same is hereafter designated "LIONS PARK".rather than "LENA PARK." SECTION 2. The necessity to officially designate the public park at Holmes and McArdle Streets as hereinabove set forth creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this resolution be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED, this theSQ tR day of , 1973.
