TO PERFORM PRELIMINARY SOIL INVESTIGATIONS NECESSARY FOR THE DESIGN OF STREET IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE AUSTIN SCHOOL AREA, UNIT II; APPROPRIATING OUT OF N0. 220 STREET BOND FUND $1872 FOR SAID LABORATORY SERVICES, APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 220- 72 -1.2; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to accept, for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi, the proposal of Trinity Testing Laboratories, Inc., to perform preliminary soil investiga- tions necessary for the design of Street Improvements for the Austin School Area, Unit II, as set forth in the proposal, attached hereto as Exhibit SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated out of the No. 220 Street Bond Fund the sum of $1,872 for said laboratory services, applicable to Project No. 220- 72 -1.2. SECTION 3. The necessity to authorize acceptance of the aforesaid proposal for performance of preliminary soil investigations creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally d on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the day of July, 1973. 7ATTE City Secretary MAYOR APPROVED* THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS DAY OF JULY, 1973:- // City Attorney' v�, W_. =4_ I . ( All test results shall be performed on soil between the depths of 6" and 2' -611 below the top of originally undisturbed soil at the existing edge of street pavement. This means that most borings will extend to a total depth of about four feet. Part II The testing laboratory shall obtain enough soil from, or near, borings No. 4 and 19 to determine the optimum lime (or other agent) content for a stabi- lized base course or courses. The stabilized soil shall be the same as that used above (taken from depths 6" to 2' -6" below the top of originally undis- turbed soil). Enough soil should be obtained to run about eight separate r ' City of Corpus Christi Engineering Department July 17, 1973 Page 2 unconfined compression tests for the lime stabilization determination. An additional amount of soil shall be obtained to run eight other unconfined compression tests for possible stabilization with an agent other than lime. Upon receipt and evaluation of the tests of Part I, the City will authorize the stabilization tests.
