HomeMy WebLinkAbout11612 ORD - 08/08/1973Im JRR:HG:jkh:7 -25 -73 1st AN ORDINANCE ,• �' ,f +: el, MAKING FINDINGS OF FACT; AMENDING SEC. 38 -49, CORPUS,# CHRISTI CITY CODE, 1958, AS AMENDED, AND PARTICULARLY AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 9863, PASSED AND APPROVED JULY 29, 19705 SO AS TO PROVIDE CERTAIN INCREASES IN WASTEWATER RATES; REPEALING ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT; = PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. . n 'R WHEREAS, the last increase in wastewater rates was authorized by x M1�•', • �y� a. °n >+" Ordinance No. 9863, passed and approved on July 29, 1970; and q� '� WHEREAS, the cost of providing wastewater treatment service has ?' x increased since that time andthe City Council has studied such increases; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that an increase in such waste- C= water rates is necessary to cope with the rising cost of such service to make . �4 such service more nearly self- supportive and thereby avoid a tax increase: ;.. +f NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY hen OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: F' 11612 :v s F t SECTION 1. That Section 38 -49, Corpus Christi City Code, 1958, ' as amended; and particularly as amended by Ordinance No. 9863, passed and appioved on July 29 1970 be and the same hereby is amended by amending the K r , *schedule of rates and the rate of schedule only thereof to hereafter read as follows : Ap"SCHEDULE OF RATES BASED ON WATER CONSUMPTION - CLASS INSIDE CITY LIMITS OUTSIDE CITY LIMITS Minimum $1.25 $2.50 One - Family Maximum 3.20 6.40 The actual charges within the above minimums and maximums, as ` ' a well as the charge for all other sewer users, will be computed as cents per one r thousand gallons of water used as follows: ' INSIDE CITY LIMITS CENTS PER 1,000 GALLONS OF WATER'USED y t First 10 thousand gallons of water $.32 , Next 190 thousand gallons of water. .22 Over 200 thousand gallons of water .12 OUTSIDE CITY LIMITS First 10 thousand gallons of water .64 Next 190 thousand gallons of water .44 Over 200 thousand gallons of water .24 " 11612 :v SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith shall be and are hereby repealed to the extent of conflict herewith. SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or''unconstitutidnal by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this ,�;�.City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 4. The effective date of this ordinance shall be for those billings of September 1, 1973, so thatthis change is not prohibited by the provisions of Phase III, economic stabilization program, as announced in Presidential Executive Ordery;No. 11723. SECTION 5. Publication shall be made one time in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi, by publishing the caption of this ordinance, stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance.
