PASSED AND APPROVED AUGUST 27, 1969, BY AMENDING CERTAIN SCHEDULES THEREIN SO AS TO INCREASE THE WATER RATES TO PROVIDE AN OVERALL INCREASE OF FIVE PERCENT (5Y) FOR CUSTOMERS USING TREATED WATER, INCLUDING MINIMUM CHARGES; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES'IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR SEVERANCE; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. WHEREAS, some of the existing water ratescf the City of Corpus ' Christi have remained unchanged since 1939, and most rates, with slight modifications, the last being in 1969, have been in effect since 1941; and 2; ?fir WHEREAS, various costs of acquiring water, transporting of water, .,.; treatment and distribution of the same has been greatly increased since 1941 and 1969; and WHEREAS, existing conditions have been studied by the City Council 'Y and the City Council has concluded that a new schedule of rates should be adopted: ' t NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY , OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith shall be and are hereby repealed to the extent of conflict herewith. SECTION 3. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be effective from those billings of September 1, 1973, so that this change is not prohibited by the provisions of Phase III, Economic Stabilization Program, as announced in Presidential Executive Order No. 11723. SECTION 5.
