HomeMy WebLinkAbout11615 ORD - 08/08/1973JRR:jkh:cd :8 -7 - 73:2nd s= V ' F AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE`CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH SLOVAK BROTHERS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS; APPROPRIATING OUT OF NO. 245 AIRPORT BOND FUND $9,700, OF WHICH $9,497 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $203 IS FOR CONTINGENCIES AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES, ALL IN CONNECTION WITH PROJECT NO. 245-68 -17; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Slovak Brothers for construction of International Airport Drainage Improvements, all as is more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in,the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Slovak Brothers, opened on the 25th day of July, 1973, the said bid of Slovak Brothers being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated out of No. 245 Airport Bond Fund the sum of $9,700 of which $9,497 is for the construction contract and $203 is for contingencies and incidental expenses, all applicable to Project No. 245- 68 -17. SECTION 3. The necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sum hereinabove set out at the earliest possible date so that construction may commence without delay creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED this the - ay of August, 1973. y ATTEST: City Secr tar AP VED: r 72 AUGUST, 19 C�T�t F MAY R Pr •Tem \Zg CITY OF CORPUS HRISTI / / 4 /,S- Corpus Christi, Texas day of , 19 %3 TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing' ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen- sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi- nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
