AN ORDINANCE
CORRECTING AND AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 9507,
ENACTED ON OCTOBER 8, 1969, AS AMENDED, BY
AMENDING ITEM NO. 32 OF SECTION 3 THEREOF
SO AS TO CORRECT THE ASSESSMENT IN CONNECTION
WITH THE IMPROVEMENTS TO GOLLIHAR ROAD, FROM
GREENWOOD DRIVE TO S.H. 286; REASSESSING ITEM
NO. 35 OF SAID SECTION 3, AS MORE FULLY HEREIN-
AFTER SET OUT; PROVIDING THAT ALL OTHER PRO-
VISIONS OF SAID ORDINANCE, AS AMENDED, SHALL
REMAIN IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 9507, passed and approved by the
City Council on October 8, 1969, levied assessments against the
properties abutting Gollihar Road, from Greenwood Drive to S.H.
286; and
WHEREAS, a recheck has revealed that as to Item No. 32,
of Section 3 of said Ordinance, an error was made in calculating
the areas of sidewalk and driveway to be constructed, and said
assessment should be corrected from $2,351.01 to $2,111.00; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that the property set
out in Item No. 35 of Section 3 of said Ordinance should be
reassessed effective March 22, 1972:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 9507, passed and approved
by the City Council on October 8, 1969, as amended, be and the same
is hereby amended by amending Item 32 of Section 3 to hereafter
read as follows:
"Item 32. A. L. Rankin 150.00 L.F. Pavement only @ 6.73 $1,009.50
Lot 1, Blk 1 832.00 S.F. Sidewalk @ 0.50 416.00
A.L. Rankin Tract 714.06 S.F. Driveway @ 0.96 685.00
$2,111.00".
SECTION 2. That Ordinance No. 9507, passed and approved
by the City Council on October 8, 1969, as amended, be and the same
is hereby further amended in that the 2.16 acres out of Paisley
Subdivision - A. L. Rankin Tract, as set out in Item 35, Section 3
of said Ordinance is hereby reassessed as follows:

and that, due to a bona fide dispute as to said assessment ab initio,
resolved on March 22, 1972, by the rezoning of said property by the
City Council of Corpus Christi, and for other good and valuable
consideration and reasons for reassessment, interest heretofore
assessed on said paving assessment principal of $9,302.17 be hereby
remitted and that interest accrued on said lien principal ($9,302.17)
shall be 6 1/2% per annum from March 22, 1972.
SECTION 2. That all provisions of said Ordinance No. 9507,
as amended, shall be and remain in full force and effect, unchanged
as heretofore enacted except insofar as the same is corrected and
amended hereby.
SECTION 3. The necessity to immediately effect the
amendment hereinabove creates a public emergency and Imperative
public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule
that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date
of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be
read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor
having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having
requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance
be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect
and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS
ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the L L day of at-c , 1973.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
