AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING SEC. 2 -7, CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, 1958, AS
AMENDED, SO AS TO CHANGE THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING ON
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON TO 2:00 P.M.; PROVIDING FOR SEVER -
ABILITY; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE, AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. That Sec. 2 -7, Corpus Christi City Code, 1928, as
amended, and as particularly amended by Ordinance No. 10872, Sec. 1, passed
and approved on May 24, 1972, be and the same is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"Section 2 -7. When and where mtetinRs to be held,
The City Council shall meet in the council chamber in regular
sessions every Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. and at such other time as
it may be called by the mayor, the mayor pro - tempore, the city manager or by
a majority of the members thereof."
SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid
or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction it
shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this
City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, work,
or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
SECTION 3. The effective date of this ordinance changing the time
of the City Council meeting shall be September 5, 1973, so that date shall be
the first meeting at 2:00 P.M.
SECTION 4. The necessity to provide for a more convenient time
for the meeting time of the City Council creates a public emergency and
imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule
that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its
introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three
several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such

emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of
the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of
its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and /
after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the J / --k

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
