HomeMy WebLinkAbout11710 RES - 09/19/1973JRR:HG:Jkb:9- 12 -73; 2nd is 0 A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO THE CORPUS CHRISTI SISTER CITY COMMITTEE,AND PARTICULARLY TO THE STUDENTS WHO REPRESENTED THE CITY DURING THEIR VISIT TO YOKOSUKA, JAPAN, THE FAMILIES WHO HOSTED THE STUDENTS FROM YOKOSUKA, AND TO EDUARDO DE ASES, COL. LUTHER JONES AND CYNTHIA SANCHEZ. WHEREAS, the.object of the Sister City Program is to further international understanding at all levels of the community on a continuing long -term basis through an affiliation with a city in another country; and WHEREAS, the Sister City Program gives focus to community interests, as evidenced by the citizens and their institutions toward building a better climate for world understanding; and WHEREAS; the members of the Corpus Christi Sister City Committee have demonstrated the validity of this program by a most successful exchange student program this year since the initiation of such a program with Yokosuka, Japan, and more recently with Tampico, Mexico: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That special recognition and appreciation be extended to the Corpus Christi Sister City Committee and to our students who so ably represented us during their recent visit in Yokosuka, Japan, and to the families who hosted the visiting students from Yokosuka. Special recognition and appreciation is also extended to the following individuals: Eduardo de Ases, General Chairman of Corpus Christi Sister City Program; Col. Luther Jones, and Cynthia Sanchez, Cc- Chairmen of the Yokosuka Sister City Committee, for their outstanding contributions which made the program this summer so successful.
