A RESOLUTION d°
DRESSING THE CONCERN OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF CORPUS
CHRISTI TO IMPROVE AND MAINTAIN THE ATTRACTIVENESS
AND AESTHETICS OY THE VARIOUS ENTRANCEWAYS TO THE
CITY, SUCH AS HIGHWAYS 77, 181, I.H. 37, S.H. 44,
CHAPMAN RANCH ROAD, WEBER ROAD AND OLD BROWNSVILLE
ROAD; AND FURTHER EXPRESSING THAT THIS CONCERN BE
TAIO;N AS A STATEMENT OF GENERAL POLICY TO GIVE
GUIDANCE AND DIRECTION TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION AND
OTHER ADVISORY BOARDS IN THEIR DELIBERATIONS; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas,
desires to improve and maintain the attractiveness and aesthetics of various
entranceways to the City, such as Highways 77 and 181, I.H. 379 S.H. 44,
Chapman Ranch Road, Weber Road and Old Brownsville Road; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires that this concern be taken as
a statement of general policy to give guidance and directions to the Planning
Commission and other advisory boards in their deliberations:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi hereby expresses its
desire to improve and maintain the attractiveness and aesthetics of the
various entranceways to the City.
SECTION 2. That the City Council further expresses its desire that
this concern be taken as a statement of general policy to give guidance and
direction to the Planning Commission and other advisory boards in their
deliberations.
SECTION 3. The necessity to improve and maintain the attractiveness
of the various entranceways to the City creates a public emergency and an
imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule
that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of.its
introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three
several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such
emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of
the Charter rule and that this resolution be passed finally on the date of

its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and
.after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED, this the�day of
November, 1973.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
