HomeMy WebLinkAbout11795 ORD - 11/21/19730 JRR:vp:11/19/73:lst AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH MAVERICK CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF SIX POINTS AREA DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS; APPROPRIATING OUT OF NO. 295 STORM SEWER BOND FUND $159,000, OF WHICH $152,343.90 IS FOR THE CONTRACT AND $6,656.10 IS FOR CONTINGENCIES AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES, APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 295 -72 -3; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, u SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to execute a contract with Maverick Construction Company for construction of Six Pointe Area Drainage Improvements, all as is more fully described in the plane and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a pert hereof by reference and according to the bid of Maverick Construction Company, opened on the 7th day of November, 1973, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated out of No. 295 Storm Sewer Bond Fund $159 ,000.of which $152,343.90 is for the contract and $6,656.10 is for contingencies and incidental expenses applicable to Project No. 295 -72 -3. SECTION 3. The necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set out at the earliest possible date so that construction may commence, creates' a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the ZLday of November, 1973.
