HomeMy WebLinkAbout11872 ORD - 01/16/19740 JRR:jkh:1- 15 -74; 1st • AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH T. H. LEE, CONTRACTOR, FOR CONSTRUCTION OF COURTHOUSE AREA DRAINAGE AND SANITARY SEWER RELOCA- TION; APPROPRIATING $45,692.99 OUT OF NO. 295 STORM SEWER BOND FUND, OF WHICH $42,904.22 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $2,788.77 IS FOR CONTINGENCIES AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES, APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 295- 72 -14; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to execute a contract with T. H. Lee, Contractor, for construction of Court- house Area Drainage and Sanitary Sewer Relocations, all as is more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of T. H. Lee, opened on the 9th day of January, 1974, said bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated out of the No. 295 Storm Sewer Bond Fund the sum of $45,692.99, of which $42,904.22 is for the con - strud-t-ion contract and $2,788.77 is for contingencies and incidental expenses, applicable to Project No. 295- 72 -14. SECTION 3. The necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set out at the earliest possible date so that construction may be commenced without delay creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspensim of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from ii8'72 and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 1Z 7-day of January, 1974.
