A RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE FILING OF APPLI-
CATION FOR FEDERAL.ASSISTANCE UNDER THE PRO-
VISIONS OF PUBLIC LAW 92 -500; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi deems it necessary and
proper to apply for a Federal grant under the Federal Water Pollution
Control Acts Amendments of 1972, Public Law 92 -500, and the rules and
regulations pursuant thereto, and to sign the acceptance of the grant
when made, and any other documents required to complete the project on
behalf of the City of Corpus Christi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager, R. Marvin Townsend, or his
successor, is hereby authorized and directed to make application for a
grant under Public Law 92 -500 and the rules and regulations pursuant there-
to, and to sign the acceptance of the grant, when made, and any other
necessary documents required to complete the project on behalf of the above
named applicant.
SECTION 2. The necessity to immediately authorize the filing
of Application for Federal Assistance under the provisions of Public Law
92 -500 and to execute such documents as may be necessary or expedient to
complete the aforesaid project creates a public emergency and an imperative
public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule providing
that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is
introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three
several meetings of the City Council and the Mayor having declared that such
public emergency and necessity exist, and having requested that said Charter
rule be suspended and that this resolution take effect and be in full force
and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED, this
the�day of February, 1974.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
