HomeMy WebLinkAbout11940 RES - 03/06/1974A RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Richard King, member of a pioneer family of South .Texas, was on March 4, 1974 called to his eternal rest; and WHEREAS, Mr. Ring will be remembered in Corpus Christi and South Texas as a devoted citizen, a long -time civic, banking, agricultural, and ranching leader, capable and highly regarded by all with whom he came in contact in his active and illustrious lifetime; and WHEREAS, many of the benefits derived by the citizens of Corpus Christi and surrounding area have been as a result of the insight and out- standing leadership of Mr. King, his tireless efforts and humanitarian efforts, and particular recognition should be taken of the more than 40 years that he served as a member of the Nueces County Navigation Commission, resulting in vast expansion of the Port, channel and dock facilities, with the resultant expanded trade between the Port of Corpus. Christi and many parts of this country and other nations; and WHEREAS, Mr. King's vast knowledge and his untiring service to the community have benefited innumerable people, and his passing is a great loss to the citizens of the City of Corpus Christi as well as his family and many friends, leaving an irreplaceable void in the community: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That this brief record of the many accomplishments of Mr. Richard Ring be recalled and that the citizens of this community join in mourning the loss of this valuable citizen. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the family of Mr. Richard King. PASSED AND APPROVED, this the 6th day of March, 1974.
