HomeMy WebLinkAbout11962 ORD - 03/20/1974JRR: d:3 -18 -74 :1st AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH HELDENFELS BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF VAN GALEN DRAINAGE AREA IMPROVEMENTS; APPROPRIATING OUT OF NO. 295 STORM SEWER BOND FUND $355,000, OF WHICH $331,701.50 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT, $7,981.34 IS FOR ADDITIONAL ENGINEERING FEES, AND $15,317.16 IS FOR CONTINGENCIES AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES, ALL APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 295- 72 -10; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to execute a contract with Heldenfels Brothers Construction Company, for construction of Van Galen Drainage Area Improvements, all as is more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Heldenfels Brothers Construction Company, opened March 6, 1974, said bid of Heldenfels Brothers Construction Company, being the lowest and most advantageous to the City' of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated out of No. 295 Storm Sewer Bond Fund $355,000 of which $331,701.50 is for the construction contract, $7,981.34 is for additional engineering fees, and $15,317.16 is for contingencies and incidental expenses, all applicable to Project No. 295- 72 -10. SECTION 3. The necessity to execute the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set out at the earliest possible date so that construction may be commenced without delay creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full 11962 CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS CERTIFICATION OF FUNDS (City Charter Article IV Section 21) March 20, 1974 I certify to the City Council that $ 355,000 , the amount required for the contract, agreement, obligation or expenditures contemplated in the above and foregoing ordinance is in the Treasury of the City of Corpus Christi to the credit of: Fund No. and Name 295 Storm Sewer Bond Fund Project No. 295 -72 -7 Project Name Van Galen Ditch from which it is proposed to be drawn, and such money is nab appropriated for any other purpose. -?d 197v a/ ]CaV'x Dire or of Fi 7 e FIN 2 -55 Revised 7/31/69 • TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas Corpus Christi, Texas OtU ay of , 19,� For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen- sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi- nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
