A RESOLUTION
ADOPTING HIGHWAY COMMISSION MINUTE ORDER N0. 68615,
DATED APRIL 4, 1974, CONCERNING INCREASED SCOPE OF
WORK IN CONNECTION WITH THE PLACEMENT OF A S$ID-
RESISTANT ASPHALTIC OVERLAY ON OCEAN DRIVE AND
SHORELINE BOULEVARD FROM I. H. 37 TO THE NORTH GATE
OF THE NAVAL AIR STATION, WHICH ROADWAY IS TO BE
DESIGNATED A METROPOLITAN HIGHWAY (NUMBER 5126); AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the State Highway Department has submitted a copy of

Minute Order No. 68615, dated April 4, 1974, passed by the State Highway Com-
mission on April 4, 1974, as follows:
"WHEREAS, in'NUECES COUNTY, Minute Order 68377 authorized
Resurfacing. Pavement and Installation of Pavement Markers
on Shoreline Boulevard and Ocean Drive (ME 5126) in the
City of Corpus Christi; and
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi has subsequently
requested additional Resurfacing work on adjacent City
streets and property, such work to be performed in con-
junction with the authorized project with funds provided
by the City; and
WHEREAS, it appears feasible and economical to perform
the requested additional work in conjunction with the
authorized project.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED that the State Highway
engineer be and is hereby authorized to enter into agree-
ment with the City of Corpus Christi covering the details
of the proposed additional work and its cost and to
proceed with construction as planned."
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Minute Order No. 68615, passed and approved by the
State Highway Commission on April 4, 1974, regarding increased scope of work
in connection with the placement of a skid- resistant asphaltic overlay on
Ocean Drive and Shoreline Boulevard from I. H. 37 to the North Gate of the
Naval Air Station, which roadway is to be designated a Metropolitan Highway
(Number 5126), be and the some is hereby adopted by the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas.
SECTION 2. The necessity to immediately adopt the aforesaid Minute
Order No. 68615 creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity
requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor

having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, and having requested
the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally
on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORD33GLY SO ORDAINED, this the

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
