HomeMy WebLinkAbout12029 ORD - 05/01/1974JRR /oc /4/15/74/lst AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, AS AMENDED BY REPEALING SECTION 21 -44 AND ADOPTING NEW SECTION NUMBERED 21-44 SO AS TO RATIFY, CONFIRM AND DECLARE TO BE OFFICIAL ALL TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES INSTALLED AND IN SERVICE AT THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE. AND SUCH INSTALLATIONS AS ARE AUTHORIZED BY THE CITY COUNCIL AND INSTALLED: PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. WHEREAS, some traffic control signs, signals, devices or markings placed or erected by the Police Division, or other City employees, are under the direction of the Director of Traffic Engineering without specific written designation of said traffic control signs, signals, devices or markings by the City Council by ordinance or. other written authority and all such installa- tions heretofore established and now in existence as well as those heretofore authorized by appropriation or other authority of the City Council and now being constructed and established should be officially approved by the City Council by Ordinance: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the Corpus Christi City Code, as amended, be and the same is hereby amended by repealing the present Section 21 -44 and adopting a new Section No. 21 -44, to hereafter read as follows: "All traffic - control signs, signals, devices and markings installed and in service on or before April 17, 1974, which are in use for the purpose of regulating, warning or guiding traffic are hereby affirmed, ratified and declared to be official traffic - control devices." SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City 12029 That the foregoing ordinance w,as read for the first time and passed to its second reading on this the, flay of 19_1,4,, by the following vote: Jason Luby James T.
