HomeMy WebLinkAbout12041 ORD - 05/08/1974�JRR:jkh:5 -8 -74; 2nd AN ORDINANCE Z AMENDING THE COMPENSATION PLAN, ORDINANCE NO. 3658, AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING SECTION 4 THEREOF SO AS TO CHANGE THE CLASS GRADE IN THE LIBRARY SERIES AS HERE- INAFTER SET FORTH; AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 8127, AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING SECTION 1, SUBSECTION (b) SO AS TO ADD SALARY SCHEDULES FOR NEIGHBORHOOD YOUTH CORPS EMPLOYEES; AMENDING ORDINANCE 8127, AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING SECTION 3 SO AS TO ADD A SUBSECTION (h) TO PROVIDE FOR TRANSFER OR CARRY -OVER OF ACCRUED SICK LEAVE OF EMPLOYEES OF THE NUECES COUNTY COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY, AS HEREINAFTER PROVIDED; AMENDING SECTION 7, SUBSECTION (d) OF ORDINANCE NO. 8127 SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR PAYMENT OF OVERTIME AT THE RATE OF TIME AND ONE -HALF TO BUS OPERATORS FOR HOURS WORKED IN EXCESS OF 48 UNLESS THESE HOURS WORKED WERE ON CHARTER RUNS; PROVIDING A SEVERANCE CLAUSE; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, • SECTION 1. That Section 4 of Ordinance No. 3658, as amended, be amended by changing the class grade of the following position in the Library Series: LIBRARY SERIES JOB CLASS JOB TITLE CLASS GRADE From To 158 Jr. Library Aide T 5 said change to become effective as of April 29, 1974. SECTION 2. That Section 1, subsection (b) of Ordinance No. 8127, as amended, be amended so as to add the following Salary Schedule: NEIGHBORHOOD YOUTH CORPS CLASS CODE CLASS TITLE HOURLY RATE 170 Operation Mainstream Trainee $2.00 171 Neighborhood Youth ' $2.00 SECTION 3. That Section 3 of Ordinance No. 8127, as amended, be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto a new subsection to be numbered (h), to hereafter read as follows: A� "(b) Any employee entering into a position under the Compensation Plan as of March 18, 1974, having been employed by the Nueces County Community Action Agency, shall receive compensation as set forth in Section 1 and shall receive credit for all sick leave accrued prior to such appointment." 12041 • + • r SECTION 4. That Section 7, subsection (d) of Ordinance No. 8127, as amended, be amended by deleting the second sentence of the second paragraph of said subsection (d) and in lieu thereof, adding the following sentence: "Bus Operators will be paid overtime at the rate of one and one -half (1 1/2) times their regular hourly rate for all hours worked over 48 with the exception that charter runs shall be paid on a straight time basis regard- less of total hours worked." SECTION 5. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 6. Except as hereinabove provided, the provisions of this ordinance shall take effect and be in effect from and after its passage. SECTION 7. The fact that there is a need to maintain at all times an efficient administration of City affairs creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in DOI force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the , ay May, 1974.
