AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, 1958, AS AMENDED,
BY AMENDING SECTION 21 -68 SO AS TO ESTABLISH MINIMUM
SPEED LIMITS ON CERTAIN PORTIONS OF THE CROSSTOWN INTERSTATE
HIGHWAY 37; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR
PUBLICATION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Corpus Christi City Code, 1958, as
amended,
be and the same is hereby amended by amending Section 21 -68 thereof in the
following particulars:
A. Delete that item of said Section 21 -68 (passed and approved
by Ordi-
nance 10506) which reads as follows:
"CROSSTOWN EXPRESSWAY (S.H. 286)
From a point 70.3 feet south of Lipan
Street centerline to a point 2800 feet
60 MPH MAXIMUM
south of Gollihar Road centerline
50 MPH MINIMUM
AT ALL TIMES ",
and in lieu thereof add the following item to said Section 21 -68:
"CROSSTOWN EXPRESSWAY (S.H. 286)
From a point 70.3 feet south of Lipan
Street centerline to a point 2800 feet
south of Gollihar Road centerline
45 MPH MINIMUM
AT ALL TIMES ";
B. Delete those items of said Section
21 -68 (passed and approved by Ordi-
nance 8641) which read:
"INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 37
From a point 430 feet East of the Staples
Street centerline (Station No. 2 +50,
60 miles per hour
I.H. 37) to a point approximately
(Maximum)
1,750 feet West of the centerline of

centerline of Port Avenue (Station
59 +50, IH 37) to a point approximately
600 feet East of the centerline of
Corn Products Road (Station 270 +00,
IH 37) 45 MPH MINIMUM AT ALL TIMES "; and
C. Amend said Section 21 -68 by adding thereto a new item, as follows:
"PADRE ISLAND DRIVE (S.H. 358)
From a point 2,000 feet southeast of
Airline Road to a point 3,650 feet
Northwest of Ayers Street 45 MPH MINIMUM AT ALL TIMES ",
repealing in particular that portion of Ordinance 11405, Section 1, which
established a minimum speed of 50 miles per hour on this portion of Padre
Island Drive (SH 358).
SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid
or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction it
shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase,
word or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this
City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word,
or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
SECTION 3. Publication shall be made one time, in the official
publication of the City of Corpus Christi, which publication shall contain
the caption stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance.
