McClure, former Corpus Christi City Manager from 1953 to 1958 died May 10, 1974; and WHEREAS, Mr. McClure had long been active in municipal govern- ment, serving as City Manager in Wichita, Kansas, Dayton, Ohio and Corpus Christi, Texas; and WHEREAS, Yr. McClure was active also in private enterprise, having managed a development company abroad; and WHEREAS, Mr. McClure provided leadership in the newly formed Council- Manager type of government in Corpus Christi, giving City government stability, and a sense of accomplishment and integrity; and WHEREAS, Mr. McClure, while serving as City Manager of the City of Corpus Christi attained national recognition in 1956 by becoming president of the International City Managers Association; and WHEREAS, Mr. McClure was prominent in establishment of model cities programs, regional Councils of Government and urban policy seminars for local business and government leaders: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEKAS: SECTION 1. That this brief record of the many accomplishments of Mr. Russell E. McClure be recalled and that the citizens of this community join in mourning the loss of Mr. Russell E. McClure. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the family of Mr. Russell E. McClure. PASSED AND APPROVED, this the 15th day of_May, 1974.
