HomeMy WebLinkAbout12072 ORD - 05/22/1974JRR:jkh:hb:5 /21/74:lst • AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CON- TRACT WITH ASPHALT PAVING & CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF HORNE ROAD UNIT II STREET IMPROVEMENTS; APPROPRIATING $212,000 OUT OF THE NO. 220 STREET BOND FUND, OF WHICH AMOUNT $198,585.55 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND $13,414.45 IS FOR CONTINGENCIES AND INCIDENTAL EXPENSES, ALL APPLICABLE TO PROJECT 140. 220 -70 -111; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute a contract with Asphalt Paving & Con- struction Company for construction of Horne Road Unit II Street Improve- ments, all as is more fully described in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by reference and according to the bid of Asphalt Paving & Construction Company, opened on the 6th day of March, 1974, said bid of Asphalt Paving & Construction Company being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated out of the No. 220 Street Bond Fund the sum of $212,000, of which $198,585.55 is for the construction contract and $13,414.45 is for contingencies and incidental expenses, all applicable to Project No. 220 -70 -111. SECTION 3. The necessity to authorize the execution of the aforesaid contract and to appropriate the necessary sums to effect said construction at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be 12072 CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS CERTIFICATION OF FUNDS (City Charter Article IV Section 21) May 22, 1974 • I certify to the City Council that $ 212,000 , the amount required for the contract, agreement, obligation or expenditures contemplated in the above and foregoing ordinance is in the Treasury of the City of Corpus Christi to the credit of: Fund No. and Name 220 Street Bond Project No. 220 -70 -111 Project Name Horne Road Street Improvements from which it is proposed to be drawn, and such money is not appropriated for any other purpose.
