Simpson has been a primary force in bringing comprehensive health care for infants and children of South Texas who have heart disorders; and WHEREAS, the Childrens' Heart Program of South Texas encompasses an area -wide effort to reach all those who participate in pediatric cardiac care, including pediatricians, family physicians, cardiologists, heart sur- geons, nurses and technicians in area hospitals; and WHEREAS, Dr. Simpson has been active in educational efforts with physicians, nurses, and non - professional audiences; and WHEREAS, the Heart Program of South Texas needs and deserves con- tinued financial support for its network of ten clinics throughout South Texas: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Corpus Christi hereby commends Dr. James W. Simpson, his staff, and "The Childrens' Heart Program of South Texas" for its cooperative program developed to promote compre- hensive care of infants and children with heart disease. SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Corpus Christi hereby urges Federal, State and other entities of government and community organ- izations in the South Texas Area to continue the financial support of this worthy project. This Resolution passed pursuant to the provisions of Article II, Section 16D of the Charter of the City of Corpus Christi, due to the neces- sity of its immediate communication, on this the 0202 day of May, 1974.
