HomeMy WebLinkAbout12107 ORD - 06/05/1974JRR:jh:oc:6 /4/74 • 2nd AN ORDINANCE TERMINATING THE CONTRACT AUTHORIZED BY ORDINANCE NO. 11384 WITH MAVERICK ENGINEERING COMPANY FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE DESIGN OF IMPROVEMENTS TO MrARDLE ROAD FROM AIRLINE ROAD TO MT. VERNON PARK, AND AUTHORIZING PAYMENT OF $10,553.90 FOR WORK PREVIOUSLY PERFORMED, FROM FUNDS APPROPRIATED BY SAID ORDINANCE NO. 11384; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the contract authorized by Ordinance No. 11384 with Maverick Engineering Company for engineering services for the design of improvements to McArdle Road from Airline Road to Mt. Vernon Park, Project No. 220 -72 -3, be and the same is hereby terminated, and payment of $10,553.90 for work previously performed is hereby authorized, said payment to be out of funds appropriated by said Ordinance No. 11384, out of No. 220 Street Bond Fund. SECTION 2. The necessity to immediately authorize termination of the contract heretofore entered into by and between the City and Maverick Engineering Company and to authorize payment for the work performed under the contract creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspen- sion of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the day of June, 1974.
