HomeMy WebLinkAbout12124 ORD - 06/05/1974JRR:vp:6 /3/74:1st AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 21 -65 OF THE CORPUS CHRISTI CITY CODE, PROVIDING THAT CERTAIN TRUCKS, TRAILERS AND OTHER VEHICLES BE RESTRICTED TO THROUGH STREETS, AS AMENDED, BE AMENDED BY ADDING THE PROVISION THAT VEHICLES IN EXCESS OF 5,000 POUNDS OR WITH AN OVERALL WIDTH IN EXCESS OF 8 lvhET BE REQUIRED TO USE ONLY THROUGH STREETS TO REACH INDUSTRIAL OR BUSINESS -ZONED PROPERTY WHICH HAS ACCESS FROM BOTH RESIDENTIAL AND THROUGH STREETS, AND THAT SUCH TRUCKS NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARK ON RESIDENTIAL STREETS FOR A CONTINUOUS PERIOD IN EXCESS OF 8 HOURS WHILE IN THE PROCESS OF MAKING A DELIVERY OR PICK -UP; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION. BE IT ORDAINED BY ui CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: • SECTION 1. That Section 21 -65 of the Corpus Christi City Code, providing that certain trucks, trailers and other vehicles be restricted to through streets, as amended, be amended by adding the following provision: "AMEND Section 21 -65, CERTAIN TRUCKS, TRAILERS AND OTHER VEHICLES RESTRICTED TO THROUGH STREETS to include: Where the origin or destination of a delivery or pick -up is indus- trial or business zoned property which has access from both residential and through streets, trucks shall be required to use only the through street even though it may not be the shortest and most direct route. When making deliveries or pick -ups on residential streets, trucks shall not park on the street for a continuous period exceeding eight hours." SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word, or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose. SECTION 3. Publication shall be made one time in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi, after final passage, which publi- cation shell contain the caption stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance. 1212 That the foregoing ordinance was read for ) he first time and passed to its second reading on this the day of , 19 7 ,4, by the following vote: Jason Luby James T.
