HomeMy WebLinkAbout12205 RES - 07/31/1974JRR:oc:7 /30/74 1st 0 A RESOLUTION NAMING AND DESIGNATING CERTAIN PARRS WITHIN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, various citizens and citizen groups have from time to time recommended to the Park and Recreation Board names for parks within the City of Corpus Christi deemed appropriate for the particular area or designated in honor of certain individuals who have promoted adequate parks and play- grounds for the inhabitants of the City as well as visitors to the City of Corpus Christi; and WHEREAS, the Park and Recreation Board, meeting in regular session, voted to accept the recommendations and forward such recommendation to the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi for its consideration: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, .TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the following names be established for the Bayfront Open Space Parks: NAME AREA Cole Park Cole Park Extension Ropes Park Sinclair Street to Ropes Street Doddridge Park Doddridge Street South Swantner Park South Shores Area Palmetto Park Area near Palmetto SECTION 2. The necessity to officially designate the public parks hereinabove described creates .a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the 12205 JRR:oc:7 /30/74 1st Charter rule and that this resolution take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED, this the 31 Lr day of July, 1974. ASST. • Corpus Christi, Texas • 31 day of , 19711/_ TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen- sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi- nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
