AN ORDINANCE
MAKING FINDINGS OF FACT; AUTHORIZING A DRIVEWAY PERMIT
TO BE ISSUED TO INTEGRAL STEEL, INC., FOR CONSTRUCTION
OF A 50 -FOOT WIDE DRIVEWAY AT 4415 AGNES STREET; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
[AREAS, Article II of Chapter 34, entitled "Private Driveways ",
authorizes the Director of Inspections and Operations to approve driveways ,
only up to forty -five (45') feet in width; and
WHEREAS, said Article II further provides for appeals to City
Council in certain cases; and
WHEREAS, Integral Steel, Inc., desires to construct a larger
driveway at 4415 Agnes Street because of unusual circumstances posed by
the large railroad tracks entering the premises, the median in Agnes
Street and the shoulder features of Agnes Street in this area; and
GBHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi hereby
finds that the granting of this exception would serve the public interest:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. An exception is hereby granted to Article II of
Chapter 34, Section 34 -28 of, the Corpus Christi City Code, to Integral Steel,
Inc,, and construction of a 50 -foot driveway at 4414 Agnes is hereby
authorized.
SECTION 2. The necessity to grant an exception to the driveway
ordinance provisions in order that Integral Steel, Inc., may construct
the requested driveway to more adequately serve their needs and to protect
the public safety creates a public emergency and an imperative public neces-
sity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that
such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the
City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity
to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that
this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take

effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS
ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the�day of September, 1974.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
