FRANK CERVERA FOR SPONSORING AND PRESENTING A COLORFUL PROGRAM DIEZ y SEIS de SEPTIEMBRE, HONORING MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY ON SEPTEMBER 16, 1974 AT THE PEOPLES STREET T -HEAD; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, September 16 has been established as national independence day of our neighbor to the south, Mexico; and WHEREAS each year on September 16, people all over-the great country of Mexico celebrate this great event; and WHEREAS this rich cultural heritage is much to be admired and celebrated by citizens of this country; and WHEREAS in Corpus Christi Mrs. Frank Cervera presented a colorful program honoring this great day; and WHEREAS the citizens of the City of Corpus Christi were shown the talented Cervera Dancers who performed Mexican regional dances as well as a full colorful pageant; and WHEREAS this colorful program was a great benefit and joy to the citizens of the City of Corpus Christi. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Mrs. Frank Cervera is hereby honored and congratulated for sponsoring the Mexican independence day celebration, Diez y Seis de Septiembre, on September 16, 1974, at the Peoples Street T -Head. The City Council and the citizens are grateful for the opportunity to participate in celebrating the Mexican national- independence day and enjoyed the performance by the talented Cervera Dancers who performed Mexican regional dances and the accompanying colorful pageant. SECTION 2. The necessity to congratulate and honor Mrs. Frank Cervera creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City 12280 Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this resolution take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED this the day of September, 1974.
