AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 11228, PASSED AND APPROVED ON THE
27TH DAY OF DECEMBER, 1972, SO AS TO RE- ESTABLISH AND
AMEND THE FOUR (4) COUNCILMANIC DISTRICTS ESTABLISHED BY
SAID ORDINANCE, INSOFAR AS THE NUECES COUNTY VOTING
PRECINCTS COMPRISING EACH DISTRICT ARE CONCERNED, ALL AS
IS MORE FULLY HEREINAFTER SET OUT; ANNEXING HERETO AN
OFFICIAL MAP DELINEATING SUCH AMENDED DISTRICTS, MARRED
EXHIBIT "A "; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION (WITHOUT SAID
EXHIBIT); PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE; PROVIDING SEVERA-
BILITY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 11228, passed and approved by
the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi on the 27th day of December,
1972, be and the same is hereby amended so as to re- establish and amend
the four (4) Councilmanic Districts established by said Ordinance No. 11228,
insofar as the Nueces County Voting Precincts (those portions lying within
the corporate limits), as established by the Commissioners' Court of Nueces
County, Texas, for the 1972 elections, are concerned, in accordance with
an official map annexed hereto and marked Exhibit "A" and made a part hereof
for all pertinent purposes, said districts being comprised as follows:
COUNCILMAN - Place 1
DISTRICT PRECINCTS OF THE DISTRICT
1 Nueces County Voting Precincts (as referenced above)
1, 3, 4, 6, 7 *, 8 *, 9 *, 21 *, 29 *, 30, 31, 32, 33, 38,
39, 40, 41, 44, 45, 46, 47, 49, 51 *, 52, 62, 76, 78,
79, 81 *, 82, 85, 99, 100 *, 101* and 103.
*Portions thereof lying within the corporate limits
of the City.
COUNCILMAN - Place 2

2 Nueces County Voting Precincts (as referenced above)
24, 34 *, 42, 43, 50, 53, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 63,

SECTION 2. That this ordinance be published once in the official
newspaper of the City after final passage hereof, provided, however, that,
because of printing costs, the official map, marked Exhibit "A ",shall not be
thus published.
SECTION 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith shall be and are hereby repealed to the extent of conflict herewith.
SECTION 4. That if for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivi-
sion, clause, phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance shall be held
invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent juris-
diction it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause,
phrase, word, or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent
of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause,
phrase, word, or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its
purpose.
SECTION 5. That the necessity to amend and re- establish the four
Councilmanic Districts at the earliest possible date creates a public
emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of
the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be
read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having
declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspen-
sion of said Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the

date of its introduction and that such ordinance take effect and be in full
force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED,
this the 16th-day of October, 1974.

TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
