AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE CITY BUDGET; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH MAVERICK
CONSTRUCTION FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF 1974 MINOR
STORM SEWER IMPROVEMENTS; APPROPRIATING OUT OF
NO. 295 STORM SEWER BOND FUND $17,250 OF WHICH
$15,522 IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND
$1,728 IS FOR CONTINGENCIES AND INCIDENTAL
EXPENSES, ALL APPLICABLE TO PROJECT NO. 295 -72-
11.2; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:

SECTION 1. That the City Manager be and he is hereby author-
ized to execute a contract with Maverick Construction for the construction
of 1974 Minor Storm Sewer Improvements, all as is more fully described
in the plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the
office of the City Secretary, all of which are made a part hereof by
reference and according to the bid of Maverick Construction, opened on
the 16th day of October, 1974, said bid of Maverick Construction being "
the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas.
SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated out of the No. 295
Storm Sewer Bond Fund $17,250, of which $15,522 is for the construction
contract and $1,728 is for contingencies and incidental expense, all
applicable to Project No. 295 -72 -11.2.
SECTION 3. Amendment of the City Budget to accomplish the
purposes of this ordinance is necessitated for emergency expenditure in
grave public necessity to meet unusual and unforseen conditions, which
could not, by reasonable diligent thought and attention of the Government
of the City of Corpus Christi, have been included in the current, original
Budget of the City.
SECTION 4. The necessity to authorize the execution of the
aforesaid contract and to appropriate the sums hereinabove set forth
at the earliest practicable date creates a public emergency and an im-
perative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule
that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of
its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read

at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having
declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the
suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and
be in full force and effect y from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
