CHRISTI; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, T. Ray Kring served as City Secretary of the City of Corpus
Christi for a total of 29 years; and
WHEREAS, he first served in that office beginning in 1937 under
the administration of Mayor A. C. McCaughan and since that time has served
numerous administrations, Mayors and Commissioners; and
WEEREAS, his outstanding and dedicated service in the office of
City Secretary has brought recognition and distinction upon the office and
the City of Corpus Christi; and
WHEREAS, during the tenure of T. Ray Kring in the office of City
Secretary, that office has at all times stood ready to serve the citizens of
the City of Corpus Christi as well as elected and other municipal officials:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor and City Council do agree in unison that
T. Ray Kring is a deserving and worthy public official and they wish to give
public notice of their appreciation and esteem for him as well as his loyal
and dedicated service as City Secretary of the City of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 2. That in his retirement the best wishes of the Mayor
and City Council for his health and well-being be conveyed to T. Ray Kring
and that this resolution be recorded in the official minutes and records of
the City, and, further, that he be furnished a copy of this action of the
City Council of the City of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 3. The fact that the City Council recognizes the value
and benefits of the role in which T. Ray Kring served the City of Corpus
Christi and the community and desires to publicly express its appreciation
creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the
suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be
passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and
the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having

requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed
finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force
and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED, this

TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
