HomeMy WebLinkAbout12379 RES - 11/27/1974JRR:MLM:hb:11 /26/74:1et • A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE ATTRACTIVENESS OF THE NEW CORPUS CHRISTI SAVINGS AND LOAN ASSOCIATION PARKING LOT BETWEEN WATER, CHAPARRAL AND KINNEY STREETS AND COOPER'S ALLEY AND THE ENHANCEMENT IT PROVIDES TO THE DOWNTOWN AREA; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the Corpus Christi Savings and Loan Association has built a new parking area between Water, Chaparral and Kinney Streets and Cooper's Alley, and WHEREAS, said parking area has been tastefully landscaped with palm trees and other attractive decor, and WHEREAS said parking area has beautified and enhanced the downtown Corpus Christi area, thereby adding to its revitalization: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Corpus Christi hereby commends Corpus Christi Savings and Loan Association for its civic endeavor of beautifying the downtown Corpus Christi area by the installation of a tastefully landscaped parking area between Water, Chaparral and Kinney Streets and Cooper's Alley. SECTION 2. The City Secratary is hereby instructed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Board of Directors of Corpus Christi Savings and Loan Association. SECTION 3. The fact that the City Council desires to publicly commend the Corpus Christi Savings and Loan Association for its beauti- fication of the hereinabove described area creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this resolution take affect and =79 0 be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED this the_gj_�ay of November, 1974.
