HomeMy WebLinkAbout12411 ORD - 12/26/1974JRR:jkh:12 /26/74:lst u • AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 11727, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON OCTOBER 3, 1973, BY AMEND- ING SECTION 1 SO AS TO INCREASE THE MEMBERSHIP ON THE SENIOR COMMUNITY SERVICES ADVISORY COMMITTEE FROM 15 TO 16; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 11727, passed and approved by the City Council on October 3, 1973, be and the same is hereby amended by amending Section l.so as to increase the membership on the Senior Community Services Advisory Committee from 15 to 16, said Section 1 to hereafter read as follows: "That the City Council shall appoint aiSenior Community Services Advisory Committee, to consist of 16 members, three of which shall represent agencies with direct services to senior citizens. The remainder shall reflect a proportionate representation of the ethnic and income distribution of the elderly population. The members of said Advisory Committee shall be appointed on the effective date of this ordinance as follows: Eight (8) members of said Advisory Committee shall be initially appointed for a term of one (1) year, and eight (8) members of said Advisory Committee shall be appointed for a term of two (2) years. Upon expiration of the term of office of the first eight appointees, the succeeding term of office for each new member shall be for a term of two years. Members may be reappointed at the discretion of the City Council." SECTION 2. Except as herein and hereby amended, the terms and conditions of Ordinance No. 11727 shall be and remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3. The necessity to make the hereinabove amendment to the said Ordinance No. 11727 creates a public emergency and an impera- tive public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its 1242 A introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED this the Aday of ATTEST: Cir4lSecretary MAYOR / THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS APPROVED: d+� DAY OE I�e , 19 N: 4'a� z EMa. ASST., City Attorney L • Corpus Christi, Texas a� u day of 19 TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen- sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi- nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
