HomeMy WebLinkAbout12412 ORD - 12/26/1974• JRR:jkh:hb:12 /26/74 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 12367, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON THIRD AND FINAL READING ON NOVEMBER 27, 1974, ORDERING AN ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, ON THE 18TH DAY OF JANUARY, 1975, UPON THE QUESTION OF ADOPT- ING AMENDMENTS TO THE CITY CHARTER OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, SO AS TO MARE CERTAIN CHANGES IN THE LIST OF ELECTION OFFICIALS AND SPECIAL CANVASSING BOARD AS HEREINAFTER SET FORTH; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 12367, passed and approved by the City Council on its third and final reading on November 27, 1974, ordering an election to be held in the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, on a the 18th day of January, 1975, upon the question of adopting amendments to the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, be and the same is hereby amended so as to make the following changes in the list of election officials to conduct the aforesaid election: CITY VOTING PRECINCT COUNTY PRECINCT SUBSTITUTE JUDGES AND ALTERNATES 3 7 & 8 Mrs. Cora Gunn, Alternate 5 810 51 & 24* Mrs. Catherine Kelly, Judge Mrs. Jean Casbeer, Alternate 7 29* & 103* Mrs. Guy Borrer, Alternate 13 62, 85 & 88 Mrs. Lawrence Perrigue, Judge Mrs. Eva P. That except as herein and hereby amended, the terms and conditions of Ordinance No. 12367 shall be and remain in full force and effect. SECTION 3. Publication shall be made one time in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi, by publishing the caption of this ordinance, stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance. SECTION 4. The necessity to amend Ord=inance No. 12367 as hereinabove set forth creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council and the Mayor having declared such emergency and n necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of said Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the 26th day of December, 1974. ASST, City Attorney *That portion lying within the city limits. , • Corpus Christi, Texas .26 day of 197 TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen- sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi- nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
