AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 12367, PASSED AND APPROVED
BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON THIRD AND FINAL READING ON
NOVEMBER 27, 1974, ORDERING AN ELECTION TO BE HELD
IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, ON THE 18TH
DAY OF JANUARY, 1975, UPON THE QUESTION OF ADOPTING
AMENDMENTS TO THE CITY CHARTER OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 12412, PASSED
AND APPROVED ON DECEMBER 26, 1974, SO AS TO MAKE CER-
TAIN ADDITIONAL CHANGES IN THE LIST OF ELECTION
OFFICIALS AS HEREINAFTER SET FORTH; PROVIDING FOR
PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 12367, passed and approved by
the City Council on its third and final reading on November 27, 1974,
ordering an election to be held in the City of Corpus Christi, Texas,
on the 18th day of January, 1975, upon the question of adopting amend-
ments to the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, as
amended by Ordinance No. 12412, passed and approved on December 26,
1974, be and the same is hereby amended so as to make the following
changes in the list of election officials to conduct the aforesaid
election:

SECTION 2. That except as herein and hereby amended, the
terms and conditions of Ordinance No. 12367, as amended by Ordinance No.
12412, shall be and remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3. Publication shall be made one time in the official
publication of the City of Corpus Christi, by publishing the caption of
this ordinance, stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance.

SECTION 4. The necessity to amend Ordinance No. 12367 as herein -
above set forth creates a public emergency and an imperative public
necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance
or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction
but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several
meetings of the City Council and the Mayor having declared such emergency
and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of said Charter
rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its intro-
duction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after p
its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the o 4Cday of
January, 1975.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
