HomeMy WebLinkAbout12446 ORD - 01/29/1975• .iRR:NlZ,t4:h :1/14/75:1sc L r AN ORDINANCE DEFINING SMOKING; PROHIBITING SMOKING IN THE CORPUS CHRISTI MUSEUM; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICA- TION; PROVIDING A PENALTY. 14HEREAS, because the purpose of the Corpus Christi Museum is educational, smoking sets a poor example for the many children visiting the Museum; and WHEREAS, smoking generates toxic fumes deterimental to the health of bystanders, damages the Museum's priceless exhibits, and is a fire hazard: TEXAS: NOW, THEREFORE, B$ IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION 1. Smoking shall mean and include the carrying of lighted pipe, cigar, cigarette or tobacco in any form. SECTION 2. Smoking is hereby prohibited within the Corpus Christi Museum. SECTION 3. Publication shall be made one time in the official publication of the City of Corpus Christi, by publishing the caption of this ordinance, stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance. SECTION 4. Any person, firm or corporation, violating the terms and provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction, shall be fined in a sum not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200).
