HomeMy WebLinkAbout12501 RES - 02/26/1975MLM:e:oc:2 /25/75 1st A RESOLUTION RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO ALL THOSE WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE COLE PARR AMPHITHEATER ARCHITECTURAL COMPETITION INCLUDING MR. ROMEO GARCIA WHO SERVED AS THE PROFESSIONAL ADVISOR, THE MEMBERS OF THE JURY WHICH SELECTED THE WINNING ENTRY, THE ARCHITECTS WHO SUBMITTED ENTRIES, AND MR. CHESTER MALINS AND THE AD HOC COMMITTEE FOR THE COLE PARR BAND SHELL WHICH ORIGINALLY RECOMMENDED THE COMPETITION AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, as a result of the civic minded endeavors of numerous Corpus Christi residents, the Cole Park Bicentennial Ampitheater is now a reality, and WHEREAS, the architectural design for this project was selected by a jury from numerous qualified entries submitted by distinguished architects, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi desires to express its appreciation and gratitude to all those who participated in this noteworthy project, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS. SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Corpus Christi hereby expresses its appreciation and gratitude to all those who participated in the Cole Park Bicentennial Ampitheater architectural competition and especially to those architects who submitted entries, to Mr. Romeo Garcia who served as the professional advisor, to the members of the jury which selected the winning entry, and to Mr. Chester Malins and the Ad Hoc Committee for the Cole Park Band Shell which originally recom- mended the architectural competition. SECTION 2. The necessity to express the appreciation of the endeavors of the numerous Corpus Christi residents for their participation in the Cole Park Bicentennial Ampitheater creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance x 2501 or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this resolution take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED, this the 26th day of February, 1975.
