AN ORDINANCE
GRANTING AN EXTENSION OF THIRTY (30) DAYS TIME TO
COMPLETE TRANSFER OF THE CABLE TELEVISION FRANCHISE
FROM ATHENA CABLEVISION, INC., TO CABLEVISION CORPO-
RATION OF CORPUS CHRISTI, INC., WHICH TRANSFER WAS
AUTHORIZED BY ORDINANCE NO. 11914, PASSED AND APPROVED
ON FEBRUARY 13, 1974, AND EXTENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 12239
FOR ANOTHER PERIOD OF ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY (180) DAYS;
PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, Athena Cablevision of Corpus Christi, Inc., (hereinafter
referred to as ATHENA) is the present holder of the cable television franchise
granted by the City of Corpus Christi under Ordinance No. 9470, for the con-
struction and operation of a cable television system in Corpus Christi; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, by Ordinance No. 11914, passed and approved
on February 13, 1974, authorized, approved and consented to a change of owner-
ship of the system and franchise and allowed one hundred and eighty (180) days
in which to effectuate the transfer of ownership; and.
WHEREAS, Athena and the proposed transferee requested an extension
of time in which to effectuate this transfer and the City Council, by Ordinance
No. 12239, passed and approved on August 28, 1974, granted an extension of
one hundred and eighty (180) days to complete this transfer of ownership, which
extension will expire on February 28, 1975; and
WHEREAS, the parties involved in this transfer have requested an
additional extension of thirty (30) days to complete this transfer:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi does hereby grant a
thirty -day (30) extension of time to Athena Cablevision, Inc., and Cablevision
Corporation of Corpus Christi, Inc., to complete the transfer of the subject
cable television system and franchise from Athena to Cablevision Corporation
of Corpus Christi, which transfer was originally authorized by Ordinance No.
11914, passed and approved on February 13, 1974, and extended by Ordinance
No. 12239, passed and approved on August 28, 1974.
SECTION 2. Publication shall be made one time in the official
publication of the City of Corpus Christi by publishing the caption of this
ordinance, stating in substance the purpose of the ordinance.

SECTION 3. The necessity to authorize this extension of time so
that the transfer of this system and franchise may be completed creates a
public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension
of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally
on the date of its introduction but that such ordinance or resolution shall
be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having
declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the
suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally
on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
