HomeMy WebLinkAbout12507 ORD - 02/26/1975MLM :jkh:2- 26 -75; lst • AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT AMENDMENT AND ALL.RELATED DOCUMENTS WITH THE COASTAL BEND MANPOWER CONSORTIUM FOR TITLE VI FUNDS UNDER THE COMPREHENSIVE EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING ACT OF 1973 TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY JOBS FOR UNEMPLOYED AND UNDEREMPLOYED PERSONS WITH TRANSITIONAL EMPLOYMENT IN NEEDED PUBLIC SERVICE, THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS BEING MORE FULLY SET FORTH IN THE CONTRACT, A COPY OF WHICH IS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY SECRETARY AND MADE A PART HEREOF BY REFERENCE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. TEXAS; BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, SECTION I. That the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute a contract amendment and all related documents with the Coastal Bend Manpower Consortium for Title VI funds under the Comprehensive FMPloyment and Training Act of 1973 to provide emergency jobs for unemployed and underemployed persons with transitional employment in needed public service, the terms and conditions being more fully set forth in the con- tract, a copy of which is on file in the office of the City Secretary and made a part hereof by reference. SECTION 2. The necessity to authorize execution of the afore- said documents in order that the program may be implemented, thereby providing employment for unemployed and underemployed persons, creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction but that such ordi- nance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, and having requested the suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, this the_-1 oC day of February, 1975.
