AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 8825, PASSED AND APPROVED
BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON APRIL 3, 1968, WHICH ORDINANCE
WAS CAPTIONED: "AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, ADOPTED ON THE 27TH DAY OF
AUGUST, 1937, APPEARING OF RECORD IN VOLUME 9, PAGES
565, ET SEQ, OF THE ORDINANCE AND RESOLUTION RECORDS,
AS AMENDED FROM TIME TO TIME AND PARTICULARLY AS
AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 6106, AS AMENDED, UPON
APPLICATION OF THE CONGREGATION OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES
ON LOTS 19 AND 20, BLOCK 9, BAYVIEW NO. 3, AN ADDITION
TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS,
BE CHANGED FROM 'R -2' TWO- FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT TO
'AB' PROFESSIONAL OFFICE DISTRICT; KEEPING IN EFFECT
ALL OTHER PROVISIONS OF THE EXISTING ORDINANCE AS
AMENDED; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERE-
WITH; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY" SO AS TO CORRECT
THE DESCRIPTION OF SAID PROPERTY TO HEREAFTER DESIGNATE
SAID PROPERTY AS LOTS 19 AND 20, BLOCK 9, BAYVIEW NO.
2; KEEPING IN EFFECT ALL OTHER PROVISIONS OF THE
EXISTING ORDINANCE AS AMENDED; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES
IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Zoning and Planning Commission forwarded to the
City Council its reports and recommendations concerning the application
of The Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, for an amendment to the Zoning
Map of the City of Corpus Christi; and
WHEREAS, after proper notice, public hearing was held at which
all persons wishing to appear and be heard were heard, to consider the
same before the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, in accordance
with proper notice to the public, said public hearing having been held on
March 27, 1968, at Regular Council Meeting in the Council Chambers at
City Hall in the City of Corpus Christi, Texas; and
WHEREAS, by motion duly made, seconded and carried, it was
declared by the City Council that to approve the requested amendment to
the Zoning Map of the City would best serve public health, necessity
and convenience and the general welfare of the City of Corpus Christi `
and its citizens; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that description was erroneous,
in that the subdivision was designated as Bayview No. 3 instead of Bayview
No. 2, and it is deemed in the public interest to correct said inaccuracy:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:

SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 8825, passed and approved by
the City Council on April 3, 1968, captioned: "Amending the Zoning
Ordinance of the City of Corpus Christi, adopted on the 27th day of
August, 1937, appearing of record in Volume 9, pages 565, et seq, of the
Ordinance and Resolution Records, as amended from time to time and partic-
ularly as amended by Ordinance No. 6106, as amended, upon application of
The Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses on Lots 19 and 20, Block 9,
Bayview No. 3, an addition to the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County,
Texas, be changed from 'R -2' two - family dwelling district to 'AB'
professional office district; keeping in effect all other provisions of
the existing ordinance as amended; repealing all ordinances in conflict
herewith; and declaring an emergency'.'; be and the same is hereby amended
so as to correct the subdivision designation as "Bayview No. 2 ".
SECTION 2. That the official Zoning Map of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, be and the same is hereby amended as herein provided.
SECTION 3. That except as herein provided and amended, all the
terms and conditions of the aforesaid Ordinance No. 8825 shall be and remain
in full force and effect.
SECTION 4. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed to the extent of such
conflict.
SECTION 5. The necessity to immediately make the aforesaid
correction in order to reflect the intent of the City Council in authorizing
the zoning change as outlined in Ordinance No. 8825 creates a public
emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of
the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally
on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor,
having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the
suspension of the Charter rule and that this ordinance take effect and be
in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO
ORDAINED this the /;-- day of March. 1975.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing
ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordi-
nance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
